Learn how to use File Doctor to edit company file data in QuickBooks Desktop.
If you can’t open your company files, QuickBooks File Doctor can help. Use it in the following situations.
Error -6150, -6000 -82, -6000 -305, -6000 -301, -6147 or -6130.
The customer, vendor, or employee name is missing or blank.
Step 1: Download QuickBooks Tool Hub
QuickBooks Tool Hub helps you fix common mistakes. For the best experience, we recommend using Tool Hub on Windows 10 (64-bit).
Close QuickBooks.
Download the latest version of QuickBooks Tool Hub (1.6.0.3). Save the file somewhere you can easily find it, such as your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop.
Note: If you have never installed Tool Hub before, you may want to check which version you are using. Select the Home tab. The definition is below.
Open the downloaded file (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
Follow the on-screen instructions and terms of use to install.
After installation, double-click the Windows desktop icon to open the Tool Center.

Note: If you don’t see the icon, start Windows, find QuickBooks Tool Hub, and select the program.

Step 2: Fix your files quickly
Select Corporate File Issues from the toolbar.
Select “Edit file now”.
When you’re done, launch QuickBooks and select OK.
Step 3: Run QuickBooks File Doctor
Select Corporate File Issues from the toolbar.
Run QuickBooks File Doctor. It may take a minute for the doctor to open the file.
Note: If QuickBooks File Doctor does not open, locate the QuickBooks desktop file and open it manually.
In QuickBooks File Doctor, select Company Files from the drop-down menu. If you can’t find the file, browse to find it.
Select View files (medium access only) and then Continue.
Enter your QuickBooks administrator password and select Next.
The waiting time depends on the size of the file and can take 10-15 minutes. Even if the problem is solved, you may not be able to search. After the search is complete, open QuickBooks and open the company file.
If QuickBooks File Doctor doesn’t fix the problem, you may need to repair corrupted data in your QuickBooks desktop company files.
